SmartCEO magazine rolled out the red carpet last week at the Westin, BWI to celebrate 29 of Baltimore’s leading technology innovators for the 2013 VOLTAGE awards. Advance, who was nominated for its Onsite & Online remote network installation program, was the runner up in the Technology Implementer category for a large business.

Onsite & Online was developed to provide a seamless transition when an Advance customer acquires new office technology. The program provides “plug and play” capability, and includes two hours of initial remote technical support, free of charge.

“We are always looking for innovative ways to serve our customers,” says Advance President, Jeff Elkin, “Onsite & Online speeds up a traditionally highly disruptive process for organizations to one that can be completed in mere minutes.”

Since its inception in 2009, Onsite & Online has seen rapid growth in demand, so much so that last year, 75% of all installations were done remotely, allowing customers to stay focused on their work with little or no disruption to their daily schedules. The streamlined, speed of Onsite & Online allows for tasks which had previously been done independently to happen simultaneously, speeding up the overall installation process for customers, their IT staff and the Advance installation team.

A shining example of the program’s efficiency was the recent overhaul of a leading Baltimore healthcare institution’s entire fleet of over 50 devices. Prior to delivery, Advance acquired all of the hospital’s existing multifunctional printer (MFP) settings, and in turn, pre-programmed the new devices for plug and play upon delivery. With the seamless network installation process, Advance was able to not only relieve the burden on the hospital’s own IT team, but also provide same day training for staffers, physicians and nurses, resulting in minimal down time for the busy hospital.

“It’s no secret that the evolution of technology is what drives business forward. These companies are pushing the limits of innovation – streamlining processes, finding efficiencies and discovering the next great product,” says Craig Burris, founder and president of SmartCEO. “Sharing their stories is a humbling experience as these companies are the catalysts for our region’s growth and prosperity.”

The VOLTAGE awards celebrate the role that technology plays in the business community and the future impact the technology sector will have on economic growth. An independent panel of business leaders selected the VOLTAGE finalists from a pool of applications. Collectively, the finalists generate more than $49.6 billion in annual revenue and employ over 177,000 individuals in Greater Baltimore. Advance, and the other 28 finalists, are profiled in the May issue of SmartCEO magazine.
